Pop / Jazz / Soul Duo
 

The unique and sophisticated sound of Body & Soul will make your special day complete.  Dine and dance to the best in Soul, Jazz and Popular music.

Body & Soul are a high class, professional, live duo.  Regularly booked to appear at weddings, parties, restaurants and bars, they provide quality entertainment tailored to individual needs.

For dining and mellow atmospheres, relax and enjoy their jazz and soul standards repertoire.  Performed vocally with six string or bass guitar accompaniment, this set includes such songs as Stormy Weather, Summertime, Fever, The Girl from Ipanema and My Baby Just Cares For Me.

For dancing and a livelier atmosphere their soul and pop repertoire is ideal, combining live vocal and bass guitar with self produced backing tracks for a fuller sound.  Artists covered include M People, Soul II Soul, Chic, Earth Wind & Fire and Chaka Khan.

The duo can perform up to 3 x 45 minute live sets with appropriate dinner / party music provided during the breaks

 WEDDINGS & FUNCTIONS

When they formed in 1997, body & soul performed regularly at local restaurants and bars, and were soon booked for weddings and functions. During the following years they developed their expertise for performing at these occasions, creating the appropriate atmosphere, giving advice to couples and offering the kind of reliability that ensures peace of mind. They now have more than 10 years experience in the field and are very flexible in the service they provide.

JAZZ REPERTOIRE

For your wedding meal or for welcoming guests at a champagne reception, they perform stylish jazz standards from the past and blend them with modern smooth soul classics. It sets a delightfully light ambience, audible but will not hinder conversation amongst your guests. As a duo, this selection of songs is vocally led and accompanied by six string or bass guitar.

SOUL & POP REPERTOIRE

As a duo, live vocals and bass guitar are accompanied by self produced backing tracks to create a full band sound ideal for the smaller function. The music is suitable for dancing or creating a livelier atmosphere. You will hear soul, disco and dance tracks from the 70's 80's 90's & 00's.

THE BAND

In recent years the duo has worked with many other professional musicians and can engage larger numbers if a band is needed. Both repertoires can be performed by the band, just contact us to discuss your requirements.

AND WHAT'S MORE body & soul will perform special requests for your first dance. There is no charge for this service unless a special backing track is needed by the duo. During breaks in live sets appropriate music is played over the system. Outdoor performances are always possible if permitted by the venue 

PETE

In 1980, Pete started playing the bass guitar and was soon performing in a local band playing cover versions in pubs and clubs. In the years that followed he was a collaborative member of various original bands, recording a number of demos for record companies and playing at several rock festivals.

He became a professional musician in 1989, playing and singing in a covers duo whilst continuing to notch up recording credits, notably a production deal with producer Joe Dworniak and the debut album of seminal indie funk band "To Be Blonde". Whilst working as a session musician he developed a keen interest in music production gaining sound knowledge of studio and recording expertise.

FRAN

As a teenager, Fran joined a local band as a backing vocalist, gaining live performance and studio recording experience.

Her talents were quickly picked up by music producers and she began a series of studio sessions for large production companies including top EMI producers, the BBC and artists such as Oliver Cheatham and Matt Bianco.

Developing a talent for songwriting, she worked with other musicians and solo projects, writing and recording original songs.

Pete & Fran met in 1996 when they both worked for a busy six-piece function band. They married in 1997 and parted company with the band to form body & soul. They performed as a covers duo and wrote and recorded their first album of original material "Change". They continued to work, building up a solid reputation as wedding performers. This enabled them to upgrade their recording equipment and continue writing and recording original material. In 2007 Pete & Fran set up their own independant record label to release Fran's debut solo album "To Fly". They are currently recording material for Fran's next solo album and continue to play live to promote Fran's album and working for a wide variety of professional clients
